Steering Angle

Measurement and Adjustment Procedures

Camber

Camber is how the wheels bend when we look at them from the front.

If the top of the wheel bends out, it's called positive camber.
If it leans in, it's called negative camber.

Caster

Caster is the angle of the steering when we look at it from the side.

It helps the car move straight.
We can move the part of suspension where the wheels are attached to adjust the caster.

Steering Axis Inclination

SAI is the angle of the steering parts when we look at the car from the front.

It helps the wheels go back to straight after turning.
We can change the parts that hold the steering to adjust the inclination.

Thrust angle

The thrust angle makes sure the back wheels are straight and match the front wheels.

If the back wheels are not matching the front wheels, we can fix them by adjusting the rear axle.

Toe

Toe is the direction the wheels point when we look from above.

If the front of the wheels points in, it's toe-in.
If it points out, it's toe-out.
We can twist the parts that connect the wheels to adjust it.

Toe-out on turns

It shows how much the wheels turn when we steer.

It helps the car turn smoothly.
We can adjust it by making sure the wheels turn the right amount when we steer.

Q1:

Answer :
  • Prepare the Car: Make sure the car is clean. Check if the tyres have enough air.
  • Place the Car on the alignment rack: Put the car on a rack that can check the wheels.
  • Measure the Wheels: The machine will measure how the wheels are positioned. It checks if they are tilted or pointing the wrong way.
  • Fix the Angles: If the wheels are not right, change them until they are straight and in the correct position.
  • Test the Car: After fixing the wheels, test the car again to make sure the wheels are perfect.
